Description
UHF RFID and Barcodes in One Compact Handheld Scanner
The Chainway SR160 is a wireless UHF RFID scanner designed for professional capture of RFID tags as well as 1D and 2D barcodes. The device combines both identification technologies in an ergonomically designed handheld scanner and is suitable for mobile workflows in warehousing, logistics, production and retail.
With the Chainway SR160, businesses can capture different identification systems using a single device. This means employees do not need to switch between multiple scanners when working with both barcodes and RFID tags.
Flexible Data Capture with Three Scanning Modes
The SR160 offers three operating modes for different tasks. Users can capture barcodes only, read UHF RFID tags only or use both technologies in combined mode. Selection is made directly using the controls on the device, enabling fast switching between different process steps.
The integrated scan engine captures a wide range of common 1D and 2D barcodes. For RFID capture, the Chainway SR160 uses a UHF module based on the Impinj E Series and supports Impinj Gen2X.
According to the manufacturer, the RFID reading range can be adjusted between 7 and 100 centimeters. This allows the capture area to be adapted to individual items, containers or workstations. The actual achievable reading distance also depends on the RFID tags used and the respective environmental conditions.
Wireless Connectivity for Mobile Workflows
In the wireless version, the Chainway SR160 transfers captured data via Bluetooth to a connected system. This allows employees to move freely within the intended working area without being permanently connected to a fixed workstation.
This is particularly useful for inventory, picking processes, goods inspection and the capture of larger quantities of items. The scanner is designed to work with Windows, Linux and macOS. Depending on the software being used, barcode and RFID data can be transferred directly to the respective application and processed there.
Ergonomic Operation and Mobile Battery Power
The compact housing and ergonomic handle support repetitive data capture tasks in professional daily use. The wireless version features a 2,600 mAh battery and is therefore suitable for mobile applications without a permanent cable connection.
Actual operating time depends on factors such as Bluetooth usage, barcode scanning frequency and the intensity of RFID capture.
Typical Applications of the Chainway SR160
The Chainway SR160 is suitable for inventory, stock control, goods receiving, picking, shipping, asset tracking and item capture in retail. In warehouse environments, barcodes on goods and containers can be scanned, while RFID tags enable fast identification of multiple tagged objects.
The scanner also supports processes in production and retail where barcode and RFID technologies are used in parallel. The combination of UHF RFID, 1D and 2D barcode capture, Bluetooth connectivity and different scanning modes makes the Chainway SR160 a flexible solution for businesses looking to standardize data capture and efficiently support mobile workflows.
