UHF RFID and Barcode Capture at Fixed Workstations
The Chainway SR160 is a wired UHF RFID scanner designed for professional capture of RFID tags as well as 1D and 2D barcodes. The device combines both identification technologies in a compact handheld scanner and is particularly suitable for fixed workstations in retail, warehousing, logistics and production.
Through a direct connection to a computer, POS system or suitable workstation, captured data can be transferred immediately to the application being used. Chainway offers USB and RS232 interfaces for wired operation. The included connection type should be clearly specified for the respective product configuration.
Three Operating Modes for Flexible Data Capture Processes
The SR160 supports three different capture modes. Users can scan barcodes only, read UHF RFID tags only or use both technologies in combined mode. Switching between the operating modes is carried out using physical buttons on the device.
This allows the scanner to be flexibly adapted to different work processes. At a POS workstation, for example, a barcode can first be scanned and an RFID tag can then be processed. Different identification systems can also be captured with a single device during goods receiving, stock control or shipping processes.
Adjustable UHF RFID Reading Range
The Chainway SR160 uses a proprietary UHF RFID module based on Impinj E Series chips and supports Impinj Gen2X. According to the manufacturer, the reading range can be adjusted between 7 and 100 centimeters.
The adjustable range allows the capture area to be focused specifically on individual items, containers or a defined workstation. This can be particularly useful at POS stations, packing stations or inspection points where RFID tags located further away should not be captured unintentionally.
The actual achievable reading range depends on the RFID tags used, their positioning and the respective environmental conditions.
Reliable Capture of 1D and 2D Barcodes
In addition to its RFID functionality, the Chainway SR160 features a powerful scan engine for a wide range of 1D and 2D barcodes. This allows traditional barcodes and QR codes, among others, to be processed in business applications.
The wired connection enables continuous operation without the need for battery management. This is particularly useful at fixed workstations where the scanner is used regularly and for extended periods.
Ergonomic Design for Repetitive Scanning Tasks
The compact housing and ergonomically designed handle support comfortable operation during repetitive barcode and RFID capture processes. Chainway positions the SR160 for use in retail, supermarkets, logistics, warehouse environments and production.
Typical applications include POS workstations, goods receiving areas, packing stations, inventory, stock control, asset tracking and the capture of goods movements.
