Professional UHF RFID Reader for Smartphones and Mobile Computers
The Chainway R7 is a powerful UHF RFID sled reader that adds professional RFID functionality to compatible smartphones and mobile computers. The device is suitable for mobile inventory, stock control, asset tracking and other data capture processes in warehousing, logistics, retail and industrial environments.
By connecting the reader to an existing mobile device, businesses can implement mobile RFID applications without having to purchase a complete RFID handheld computer for every workstation. The R7 supports Android and iOS. Software development kits are available for Android, iOS and Windows.
High RFID Performance with Impinj Technology
The Chainway R7 is based on an Impinj E Series chipset and supports Impinj Gen2X. Compatible UHF RFID tags are processed according to EPCglobal Class 1 Gen 2 and ISO 18000 63. A circularly polarized antenna supports reliable capture of RFID tags in different orientations.
Under suitable test conditions, Chainway specifies a reading rate of up to 1,300 tags per second and a reading range of up to 30 meters. The range test was carried out outdoors using Impinj M830 tags. Actual performance depends on the tags used, the environment, their orientation and potential sources of interference.
Flexible Connectivity and Fast Pairing
Data is transferred to a smartphone or mobile computer via Bluetooth 5.0. NFC supports fast pairing by holding the mobile device close to the reader. A USB Type C interface is also available.
The Chainway R7 can optionally be equipped with dual band WiFi 6 for the 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz frequency ranges. Depending on the selected configuration, this allows the reader to be flexibly integrated into mobile applications and existing network environments.
Various Mounting Options for Mobile Devices
The R7 is available in different versions. In addition to a basic version, Chainway offers variants with a clamp mount or magnetic attachment. This allows the RFID reader to be configured according to the smartphone or mobile computer being used and the intended workflow.
The supported dimensions and specific mounting method should be checked against the intended mobile device before ordering. Chainway provides the corresponding SDKs for the development and integration of compatible applications.
Optional 1D and 2D Barcode Scanning
Depending on the configuration, the Chainway R7 supports additional scan modules for 1D and 2D barcodes. This allows businesses to capture RFID tags, traditional barcodes and QR codes using one mobile system.
A separate mode button enables switching between RFID capture and barcode scanning. As barcode functionality is optional, it should only be listed as included in the technical specifications if the offered configuration actually contains the corresponding scan module.
Rugged Design and Replaceable Battery
The replaceable battery has a capacity of 6,700 mAh. An integrated battery indicator helps users monitor the charge level. The quick replacement design allows the battery to be exchanged easily during longer working shifts.
The housing meets the IP54 protection rating. The reader is also designed to withstand repeated drops from heights of up to 1.5 meters onto concrete as well as 1,000 tumbles from a height of 0.5 meters. The specified operating temperature range extends from minus 20 to plus 50 degrees Celsius.
