Mobile UHF RFID Reader for Professional Data Capture
The Chainway R2 is a compact Bluetooth UHF RFID reader designed for inventory, stock control, asset management and other mobile data capture processes. The device connects wirelessly to a compatible smartphone, tablet or mobile computer and transfers the captured RFID data directly to the application being used.
Thanks to its standalone design, the reader can be held independently of the connected device. This makes it suitable for mobile workflows in warehousing, logistics, retail, production and field service. Chainway provides software development kits for Android and iOS to support the integration of the R2 into suitable applications and business processes.
Powerful UHF RFID Tag Capture
The integrated UHF module is based on Impinj E Series chips and supports Impinj Gen2X. The reader processes compatible RFID tags according to EPC Class 1 Gen 2 and ISO 18000 6C. A linearly polarized antenna supports targeted capture of tagged objects.
Chainway specifies a maximum reading rate of more than 900 tags per second. Depending on the reference tag used, outdoor reading ranges of 26, 27 or up to 31 meters have been achieved. Actual RFID performance depends on the tags being used, their orientation, the environment and potential sources of interference.
Bluetooth 5.0 and Local Data Storage
Communication with the connected device takes place via Bluetooth Low Energy 5.0. Captured data can therefore be transferred wirelessly to mobile applications and subsequently processed in warehouse management systems, merchandise management solutions or individual software applications.
The Chainway R2 can also store up to 50,000 tag records locally. This allows RFID information to be temporarily stored when immediate transmission to the connected system is not possible or not required. A USB Type C interface is available for charging and wired connectivity.
Clear Display and Optional Barcode Capture
The integrated 1.77 inch display clearly presents important device information and status messages. Additional LED indicators provide information about power supply, operating status and Bluetooth connection. An acoustic signal provides feedback during data capture processes.
The R2 is optionally available with a scan module for common 1D and 2D barcodes. Depending on the selected configuration, traditional barcodes, Data Matrix codes and QR codes can therefore be captured in addition to RFID tags. Barcode functionality should only be listed as included in the technical specifications if the offered configuration actually contains the corresponding scan module.
Replaceable Battery for Mobile Use
The replaceable battery has a capacity of 5,200 mAh. Chainway specifies a standby time of more than 70 hours with an active Bluetooth connection and continuous UHF operation of up to six hours. Actual operating time depends on RFID activity, Bluetooth usage and the respective operating conditions.
The R2 is designed to withstand repeated drops from heights of up to 1.5 meters onto concrete. Its operating temperature range extends from minus 20 to plus 50 degrees Celsius.
