Description
Hands Free UHF RFID Capture for Mobile Work Processes
The Chainway MR20 is a compact wearable UHF RFID reader designed for mobile data capture processes in warehousing, logistics, retail, production and field service. Thanks to its wearable design, the device can be used with a back of hand strap, wristband or lanyard. This keeps both hands free for picking up, sorting and handling goods.
The reader weighs only 64 grams. Combined with the glove mount, the weight is approximately 90 grams. This makes the MR20 particularly suitable for repetitive RFID capture processes where a conventional handheld scanner would otherwise need to be held continuously and put down after each operation.
Short Range UHF RFID Capture
The integrated UHF module is based on Impinj E Series chips and supports Impinj Gen2X. Compatible RFID tags can be read and written according to EPC Class 1 Gen 2 and ISO 18000 6C. The output power can be adjusted between 19 and 27 dBm.
According to the manufacturer, the Chainway MR20 achieves a maximum reading range of up to 80 centimeters. This makes the reader suitable for targeted capture processes where individual items, containers or objects need to be identified within a limited area. The actual achievable reading range depends on the RFID tags used, their orientation and the respective environmental conditions.
Bluetooth Connection with Android and iOS
The connection to a smartphone, tablet or mobile computer is established via Bluetooth Low Energy 5.0. Captured RFID data can therefore be transferred directly to a compatible application and processed there.
Chainway provides software development kits for Android and iOS. This makes it easier to integrate the reader into mobile applications for warehouse management, merchandise management, asset management or individually developed processes. The USB Type C port also supports wired data transfer and device charging.
Replaceable Battery and Fast Charging
The replaceable battery has a capacity of 1,200 mAh. According to the manufacturer, the charging time under the specified conditions is approximately one hour. An optional charger for separate batteries supports quick battery replacement during longer periods of use.
LED indicators provide information about charging status, operating status and Bluetooth connection. An acoustic signal provides feedback during RFID capture. Actual operating time depends on the selected output power, the frequency of read operations and Bluetooth usage.
Rugged Design for Professional Use
The Chainway MR20 meets the IP65 protection rating and is therefore protected against dust and water jets. The device is also designed to withstand drops from heights of up to 1.5 meters onto concrete. The operating temperature range extends from minus 20 to plus 50 degrees Celsius.
Typical applications include picking, inventory, stock control, asset tracking, goods inspection, ticket control and mobile service processes. The combination of low weight, hands free operation, Bluetooth 5.0 and short range RFID capture makes the MR20 a flexible solution for targeted mobile data capture processes.
